"If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.” - George Bernard Shaw

Work Song

The song is more like an anthem of some communist or dictatorial country. In United States, the country and government encourages acts in promoting the unique part of their identity. However, this is more like a description of a glorious world where everyone act in a joyful manner.  All of them are working for the great happiness. It is really similar to the idea of communist where everyone work for the sake of work, not for themselves. If this song were to be written for the modern United States of America, it would have much less passion. It would be computer programmers, Wall Street financial experts, NBA basketball players and careers like that. There is less the feeling of union as time progresses and United States evolved. As for Taiwan, a country that blindly follow the footstep of the USA, has basically the same trend, except instead of NBA, we have people selling gum at the train station and other kind of traditional food. However, this kind of song still holds for modern china, parts of china where there is ship-making industry. The joyful attitude is unrealistic but idealistic in their society, which bases on a better motive than us capitalist, common welfare over selfish prosperity.
